How old do kids have to be to ride? It all depends on the kid. If a kid can snow board, wake board or operate a jet ski they are possibly able to operate a jetboard. Ideally, riders should be 16 years or older, but responsible and competent children as young as 11-12 years old who are comfortable on the water can operate the board with adult supervision. Some beginners just operate the jetboard by riding it on their stomach.
Is it safe? As with any water activity, especially those involving motorized watercraft, there are risks for serious injury. Riders must always wear appropriate life jackets, learn appropriate use of the board, and operate it safely and responsibly. Riders and/or parents or guardians of riders (if minor) must read and sign a waiver prior to rental.
How does it turn? The board is controlled by the rider shifting his/her body weight. There is no steering mechanism.
What happens if I fall? The rider wears a bracelet around his/her wrist. This bracelet has an attachment that plugs into the trigger, which powers the board. If the rider falls, the attachment unplugs, and the motor stops. Depending on how the rider falls, the board may float away, and he/she will need to swim after it.
